Press release – MEPs strike a deal to strengthen Europe’s defence readiness

MEPs and Council negotiators have reached an agreement to enhance Europe's defense readiness by accelerating permit approvals for defense projects, simplifying procurement, and cutting unnecessary barriers. The legislative proposals aim to support up to €800 billion in defense investment over the next four years under the ReArm Europe Plan/Readiness 2030 initiative. The package includes measures to facilitate intra-EU transfers of defense-related products and streamline defense procurement. The agreement emphasizes the importance of improving EU's responsiveness to security challenges and ensuring transparency and consistent implementation.
