MEPs have selected three finalists for the 2025 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought, including imprisoned journalists, journalists and humanitarian aid workers in conflict zones, and Serbian students. The winner will be chosen by the Conference of Presidents and announced in October 2025. The Sakharov Prize, named after Andrei Sakharov, recognizes individuals, groups, or organizations for their work in human rights, freedom of expression, and democratic values. Several past laureates have also received the Nobel Peace Prize. The award ceremony will take place in December 2025.
