MEPs have supported proposals to accelerate the permitting process for renewable energy projects, electricity grids, and related facilities in the EU. The changes aim to streamline procedures, introduce shorter deadlines, and increase transparency to facilitate the deployment of clean energy. The focus is on cutting energy prices through domestic clean energy production and meeting Europe's energy and climate targets. The proposal was strongly backed by MEPs and will now move to interinstitutional negotiations with the Council to advance towards more efficient energy development processes.
