The European Parliament backed the nomination of Daniel Caspary from Germany as a candidate for the European Court of Auditors (ECA). Caspary, an MEP since 2004, received a positive opinion from the Budgetary Control Committee. The final decision will be made by member state ministers in the Council of the EU. Each member state proposes one candidate for the ECA, with appointments made for a six-year term following consultation with the European Parliament.
