The European Parliament has adopted proposals to address the influx of substandard goods from non-EU web shops by suggesting measures such as incentivizing bulk imports, imposing a €2 handling fee for individual e-commerce packages, encouraging the use of AI and blockchain technologies for customs purposes, and supporting the removal of customs duty exemptions for goods undervalued under €150. These measures aim to ensure safety, fairness, and transparency in the digital market, and will be further discussed in negotiations for a Customs Code reform.
