Press release – MEPs back €7.5 million in EU support for workers in Belgium

MEPs approved EU support of €7.5 million for workers affected by the closure of an Audi factory in Brussels. The funds from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund will aid over 3,400 workers who lost their jobs. Despite Audi's profitability, production is moving to China and Mexico. The support includes career guidance, job-search assistance, skills training, and aid for starting businesses. The EU will cover 85% of the €8.8 million cost, with the rest funded by Belgian regional services. The EGF supports displaced workers due to major restructuring, having assisted over 181,000 individuals across member states.
