Press release – Parliament backs €8.5 million in EU aid for dismissed workers in Sweden

The European Parliament approved the release of €8.5 million from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund to support workers affected by the bankruptcy of Northvolt AB in Sweden. The aid will assist around 5,800 workers in re-entering the labor market by providing personalized career guidance, training, and support for starting a business. The EU aims to cover 60% of the assistance cost, with Swedish authorities contributing the remaining 40%. The fund has been used in 185 cases since 2007, allocating €719 million to help over 175,000 individuals across 20 EU countries.
