Press release – MEPs back new measures to strengthen Europe’s defence readiness

MEPs have approved new measures to streamline defense investment in the EU, with the objective of facilitating up to €800 billion in defense spending over four years and enhancing Europe's security preparedness. The proposals aim to accelerate permit-granting for defense projects, simplify intra-EU transfers and procurement, and streamline eligibility procedures for the European Defense Fund, including specific measures for testing projects in Ukraine. The measures seek to improve EU responsiveness to security challenges and enhance cooperation on defense contracts.
