Press release – €3 million in support for 915 laid off employees in Germany

The European Parliament approved EU aid of €3 million for 915 former Goodyear employees in Germany who were laid off after restructuring. The funding from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund will support reintegration measures, such as career guidance, skill acquisition, and job search assistance. The closure of Goodyear's facilities resulted in a rise in unemployment rates, particularly affecting males over 50 with outdated qualifications. The EGF has been crucial in assisting displaced workers across the EU, with over 172,000 people benefiting from its support since 2007.
