MEPs approved two agreements enhancing political ties and trade between the EU and Mexico, aiming to promote business, sustainable development, and combat corruption. The agreements include lower tariffs, protection of EU agri-food products and access to public procurement for EU firms. Enhancing the rules-based international order and promoting democracy and human rights are central to the partnership. The focus is on strengthening judicial independence, good governance, transparency, and combatting corruption and organized crime. The agreements aim to increase EU exports and save EU companies millions in customs duties annually. EU member states and Mexico still need to ratify the agreements for full implementation.
