The European Parliament has requested the verification of the Europe of Sovereign Nations (ESN) political party's compliance with EU values concerning its registration and funding. The independent Authority for European Political Parties and Foundations is tasked with conducting the assessment. This is the first time such a procedure has been initiated since the EU regulation on political parties was revised in 2025 to reinforce transparency and safeguard European values. The verification process will focus on core EU values such as democracy and respect for human rights. Parliamentary approval for the inquiry does not indicate a stance on the issue. If no objections are raised by the Parliament or the Council, decisions regarding the deregistration of a political party will be enforced.
